It was at the end of last week that Sarah Sjöström slipped on an ice patch and landed badly on her elbow.

In the emergency room, they stated that the swimming star needed to operate on the injury and with only six months left until the Olympics in Tokyo, Sjöström was saddened.

"It's obviously very lousy timing and I'm devastated.

But at the same time, I am determined and motivated to come back stronger than ever, ”she wrote herself on Instagram.

On Monday morning, the 27-year-old underwent surgery at Sankt Göran Hospital in Stockholm and she was under general anesthesia.

Therefore, she will remain in the hospital during the night for observation.

- She was a little included but will probably be discharged during the morning.

Sarah is not plastered and in the beginning she will probably have a lot of pain.

But they were satisfied with the mobility in her arm and she has full mobility, which is very promising for the future, says René Tour at a press conference.

In three weeks she will return to the hospital to remove the stitches and after three months she will be able to load the muscle to the maximum, according to Tour.
