Rafael Nadal suffering in training -

Two days before entering the Australian Open, world No. 2 Rafael Nadal, injured in his back, said on Sunday that he hoped to be "ready" physically by Tuesday.

“We are doing everything possible.

Everyone helps me as much as possible, I hope to be ready (Tuesday) ”, confided in a press conference the Spaniard, who skipped the ATP Cup this week.

"It is true that I have suffered these last fortnight," admitted the winner of 20 Grand Slam titles, a record shared with Swiss Roger Federer, absent this year in Melbourne.

“At first the muscle was just tired but (now) I feel it stiffer than usual,” he explained.

“It's difficult to play with real freedom of movement”.

Nadal is due to start his quest for a second title in Melbourne on Tuesday against Serbian Laslo Djere.

Her troubles are added to the physical problems of several players in the women's table, including the American Serena Williams, the world No.3 Naomi Osaka or the double winner of the Australian Open Victoria Azarenka.
