Ceylin del Carmen Alvardo won the Krawattencross in the Flemish Lille on Sunday.

The 2020 world champion beat Lucinda Brand in the final sprint, who conquered the rainbow jersey last week.

The cross in Lille was the penultimate race in the X2O Bathrooms trophy.

All six previous past stages in that championship were won by Dutch riders.

The Belgian Sanne side tried to end that hegemony and decided to attack early on.

World champion Brand, Del Carmen Alvarado and Denise Betsema managed to join her with great difficulty.

There were a lot of falls on the snowy course, which meant that no one could really get away.

In the last lap Brand put a decisive gear on the sand, only Del Carmen Alvarado was able to connect.

Cant was empty and Betsema had to leave a gap due to a mistake.

After a long sprint, 22-year-old Del Carmen Alvardo crossed the finish line first just before Brand.

Betsema left Cant behind and provided an entirely Dutch stage.

The men will also drive in Lille on Sunday afternoon.

Big names such as Mathieu van der Poel, Wout van Aert and Tom Pidcock are missing from the start list.
