In 2019, all Russian sports were shut down for four years by the international anti-doping organization Wada after most doping offenses.

Russia was thus suspended from all major championships, both as a participant and organizer.

In 2020, the sentence was halved to two years by the sports arbitration court Cas.

However, there are championships that are still planned to be decided in Russia despite the suspension.

The Bandy World Cup is one of them.

A World Cup that has also been moved twice due to the corona pandemic.

First from the autumn of 2020 to the spring of 2021 and now most recently until October with Irkutsk as the venue.

That plan stands firm according to the international bandy federation's (FIB) Swedish general secretary Bo Nyman.

- We are in contact with Wada to implement it despite the Cas ruling.

We had an agreement on the World Cup before the verdict came and then there are opportunities to arrange.

We are optimistic and have a good dialogue.

Of course, we believe that we will solve this, says Bo Nyman.

No definitive message has been received yet.

- We are working full time, and hope that it will come soon.

But when do I have a hard time saying, says Bo Nyman.

If you do not get the clear tack from Wada - what is your plan b?

- There is no plan b right now.

We are set to play in Irkutsk, says Bo Nyman.
