After last season, Ulf Lundberg replaced Ylva Martinsen as the national team captain for Damkronorna.

However, he has had a very special start to his time as leader of the team, and has still not been allowed to do any tournaments with the team.

The Corona pandemic canceled the planned Euro Hockey Tour tournament which was to have been played in Ljungby in December - and instead it became a training camp in Sundsvall.

"Concerns about further spread"

The tournament that was to be played this month was also canceled, and instead Damkronorna would have had a new camp in Sundsvall.

But now it is clear that the camp will be canceled, after three SDHL teams were affected by the spread of infection.

- As we have the spread of infection in several of the teams where we have selected players and a concern for further spread, it is important that we take our responsibility and do what we can to prevent further spread.

In addition, the season is in a sensitive situation with the end of the regular season and the SDHL playoffs in the near future and after last season's abrupt end, it is important that we give the associations and the league the best possible conditions to complete the end, says Swedish Ice Hockey Association competition and national team manager Olof Östblom on SDHL's website.

- A sad, sour and difficult message, which I also understand.

We have started to build something that will be both strong and pointed.

But we do nothing half-hearted with Damkronorna and I have great confidence in the medical competence, says Ulf Lundberg.
