The final national selection for the Tokyo Paralympics onshore and wheelchair marathon will be held in March at the Ground Self-Defense Force's garrison in Tachikawa, Tokyo.

One of the conditions for being nominated as a representative of the Tokyo Paralympic Athletics and Wheelchair Marathon is that both men and women must be in the 6th place in the world ranking as of April 1st.

However, since many Japanese athletes are currently in 7th place or lower, the Japan Para Athletics Federation will hold the final national selection meeting next month at the Ground Self-Defense Force Tachikawa Garrison in Tachikawa City, Tokyo. On the 5th, Chairman Akemi Masuda and others attended the signing ceremony at the garrison.

This is the first time that a wheelchair marathon event has been held at the Ground Self-Defense Force's garrison, so a total of up to 20 Japanese men and women, who are ranked high in the world ranking, will participate in the lap course using the runway. It will be done.

According to the federation, it is a flat course that is rare in a wheelchair marathon, so if there is no wind, you can expect a good record, and the results of this tournament will be reflected in the world ranking.

In the wheelchair marathon, the record of the athletes was sluggish at the tournament in November last year, which was initially positioned as the last selection race in Japan, and as a result of the federation seeking to hold a new tournament, this time the cooperation of the city and the Ground Self-Defense Force It means that it was realized by obtaining.

Chairman Masuda of the federation said, "I am really grateful for the players to give me a chance. I think that the players will do their best to go to the Tokyo Paralympics with the intention of giving back."
