Franco-Ivorian Sébastien Haller, who arrived at Ajax Amsterdam from West Ham in early January for 22.5 million euros, has not been registered for the Europa League, the Dutch club announced Thursday, acknowledging having made "a huge" mistake, on the site.

And despite an appeal to UEFA, the institution did not want to hear anything.

"UEFA has informed Ajax that winter rookie Sébastien Haller will not be available in the UEFA Europa League for the remainder of the 2020/2021 season," the club said in a statement on Friday morning.

Due to an administrative error at Ajax, the striker was not on the Europa League list of players, which was due to be submitted by Tuesday 2 February at the latest.

The player who arrived at Ajax from West Ham United on January 8 can be used in Premier League and Cup matches ”.

De UEFA heeft Ajax laten weten dat Sébastien Haller de rest van het seizoen 2020/2021 definitief niet inzetbaar is in de UEFA Europa League.

Haller, the Dutch club's most expensive transfer, will not be able to face Lille on February 18 in the round of 16 first leg of C3, nor in the return match, scheduled a week later.

A decidedly superb sequence, while goalkeeper Onana has just been suspended for a year for allegedly confusing aspirin with a doping product.
