Ajax have said they are in talks with the Dutch Football Association (KNVB) and the European Football Association (UEFA) to try to resolve the situation.
The squad registration for the Europa League is handled by the clubs themselves, who then send the lists to Uefa.
The player lists are then checked by the national association to make sure that all players are available before the clubs confirm the final squad.
