REPORTAGE

In Marseille, the Commandery still bears some traces of the incidents of Saturday.

Nearly 300 supporters, angry with the club management, caused serious incidents at the training center on Saturday afternoon, resulting in the postponement of the Ligue 1 match against Rennes.

In the aftermath of this violence, the tags and debris that littered the ground were cleaned but the Marseille club woke up groggy.

Europe 1 went to meet fans who unanimously condemn these actions.

"It's a shame," sighs Gabi, wearing an Olympique de Marseille tracksuit, as she walks past the club's headquarters.

Pressure cooker

"I had to be there", continues the supporter who decided to bring croissants to the security guards.

"By spending a lot of time at the Commanderie, you are forced to form friendly ties with the security people."

There is no doubt that this "small gesture of gentleness in this rough world" will have been appreciated.

For the fans crossed this Sunday morning, this situation was foreseeable.

"The more weeks went by, the more the pressure cooker rose", summarizes Mahmoud, who nonetheless condemns the violence.

"The club is poorly run, but they could have had another way of showing their dissatisfaction."

He recalls that it all started with the deployment of banners across the city.

"Small groups of thugs"

While events forced to postpone the match scheduled for Saturday evening at the Vélodrome between the Olympique de Marseille and Rennes, the American businessman Frank McCourt, owner of OM, denounced on Sunday the actions of "small groups of thugs ".

"We will work in close consultation with all the authorities to ensure that those found responsible for these scandalous acts of violence are brought to justice," he added in a statement.

The climate between the club and the supporters is deleterious.

The latter are in any case convinced that sports results will still suffer.
