The Téléfoot channel, which was supposed to stop broadcasting on Sunday, will continue to broadcast Ligue 1 for at least one additional day, that of February 4.

A new call for tenders was launched for the future… But the strategy of the historic championship broadcaster, Canal +, is very difficult to decipher.

DECRYPTION

French football has not finished negotiating with television channels.

A few days ago, the French Football Federation (FFF) received a letter from France Télévisions and Eurosport, which are demanding a 30% discount on the broadcasting rights for the Coupe de France due to the coronavirus crisis, according to

the Team

.

But its main problem remains the dissemination of Ligue 1, a puzzle that sets in over time.

Indeed, more than a month after the announcement of the shutdown of the Téléfoot channel, owned by the Mediapro group, we still do not know for sure who will broadcast the French football championship in the coming weeks.

Who will broadcast OM-PSG?

The situation is so ubiquitous that Téléfoot, supposed to stop broadcasting on Sunday at midnight, after the Nantes-Monaco match, will continue to broadcast Ligue 1 for at least one additional day - that of February 4.

Because the fear of the Professional Football League (LFP) is indeed that of the "black screen" ... All the more so since in a week, Sunday February 7, the championship match must take place: OM -PSG.

At the League, we still do not know who will broadcast it at the moment.

Concretely, the LFP launched a new call for tenders with the lots belonging to Telefoot, and gave until Monday February 1 at noon to submit applications.

And ideally, she hopes to know her new broadcaster (s) before February 5.

The ambivalent strategy of Canal +

Except that the encrypted channel Canal +, historic broadcaster of Ligue 1, has never lived up to its name.

Her strategy is difficult to decipher, because if there is no doubt that she will apply for Monday's tender ... she is attacking him at the same time in court, because she believes that the League should have put back all TV rights on the market.

It is in particular question of the lot number 2, property of beIN Sports and bought back 330 million euros by Canal +, which estimates the amount of this overvalued lot.

In this part of the soap opera, the League and Canal + have an appointment on February 19 before the Paris Commercial Court.

And if the channel were to succeed, the LFP would have to re-issue a call for tenders.

So plunging French football into the most complete uncertainty.
