Shigehiro Hanada, a former yokozuna of the sumo wrestler, died in Tokyo on the 29th.

He was 82 years old, the oldest living yokozuna.

Former yokozuna Tochinoumi Hanada was born in Aomori Prefecture in 1938, stepped on the first ring in the autumn of 1955, and made a new start in the spring of 1960.



Although he is small, he is good at sumo wrestling that jumps into the opponent's pocket and haste sumo wrestling, and in the summer of 1958 he won his first victory at Sekiwake and was promoted to Ozeki after the place.



Then, after the first place in 1964, he was promoted to the 49th yokozuna and retired in the middle of the Kyushu place in 1966.



After retiring from active duty, he inherited the Kasugano stable in 1990 and provided guidance to younger generations until he retired in 2003.



When Tochinoshin was promoted to Ozeki after the summer of 2018, he visited the Kasugano stable and participated in the transmission ceremony.



According to an official of the Japan Sumo Association, he died in Tokyo before dawn on the 29th, so he was 82 years old, the oldest living yokozuna.
