Stefan Lövgren is one of Swedish handball's greatest and best players of all time.

With eleven medals, including World Cup gold in 1999. After the victory against France, it was an almost taken Lövgren.

- It is difficult to find the words somewhere, but it is an incredible joy.

You can actually use any superlative, it is pure magic, says Lövgren to SVT Sport.

He is extra impressed that the victory almost never felt threatened.

"Felt like Sweden had full control"

- In the second half, it felt like Sweden had full control, even if France scored two goals in a row or changed something, the Swedish team did not stress up but they continued to do their part and had control over what happened.

Before the World Cup, hardly anyone expected Sweden to go to the final after several defections and a troublesome charge where players became infected with covid-19.

- I can understand that the expectations were not so great, but Sweden has surprised everyone and really come together as a team.

"If we win gold, I will invent a new word"

In the final, Sweden will lose again when one of the major nations is waiting in Denmark or Spain.

- But there is no one who wants to go in and meet a Sweden in incredible success and who has proven that they can beat everyone.

How big is it that Sweden is in the World Cup final?

- Every World Cup final that Sweden can participate in is of course gigantic.

And how big is it if they win?

- It would be so big that I do not even know what to use for words.

If we win gold, I will invent a new word for how big it is, Stefan Lövgren concludes.

Wislander lyrical

The former major player Magnus Wislander, now an expert commentator in Radiosporten, was also surprised by the victory.

- They seem to thrive so damn well together.

This is probably the biggest surprise that has happened in Swedish handball since Jesus wore shorts, Wislander said in Radiosporten's broadcast.
