Chelsea coach Tochel vows to win titles

"The club's DNA is to win," said German Thomas Tuchel, the new coach of Chelsea's football team, indicating that his mission is to win titles after assuming leadership of the team to succeed Frank Lampard.

Tuchel signed an 18-month contract with Chelsea on Tuesday, just one day after Lampard was sacked due to poor results that led the team to eighth place in the Premier League ranking currently.

Tuchel scored his first appearance with Chelsea during a 0-0 draw at home to Wolverhampton on Wednesday, as he prepares to lead the team against home to Burnley next Sunday.

Despite his practical departure from competing for the Premier League title this season, Chelsea is still competing for the FA Cup, and is preparing for the play-off rounds in the Champions League, where he faces Atletico Madrid in the round of sixteen of the continental competition, and Tuchel hopes that The blue team can improve and progress.

"The club has made it clear. Chelsea are interested in the results," he confirmed in a video conference today.

"We always try to provide a good level, develop and improve players, increase their value, in addition to strong performance," Tuchel added.

"I am here to challenge every tournament we play for. Our goal this year is the UEFA Champions League and the FA Cup - as for the Premier League title competition, this is not realistic," said the new Chelsea coach.

Tuchel realizes how difficult it will be to replace Lampard, who is considered a Chelsea legend, after the German coach had previously been sacked from the French Paris Saint-Germain team, who led him to the Champions League final last season.

Tuchel stressed, "I know that the dismissal of Frank was a huge disappointment to a large fan base."

"I have all the respect for him. I admired Frank a lot when he was a player," he added.

"The club made it clear to me that this is not my fault, I cannot change the team's position now. The decision has been taken and I had the opportunity," Tuchel concluded.
