Sweden's big basketball star Jonas Jerebko has not played in the Swedish national team since the European Championships in 2013.

Now that may change.

The 33-year-old has been selected in the 20-name squad that will be coronated before the upcoming decision in the European Championship qualifiers.

Sweden has everything in its own hands in the matches against Turkey and the Netherlands, which are played in a bubble in Istanbul at the end of February.

A European Championship promotion would be the first since 2013 and the national team captain Hugo Lopezhar put Jonas Jerebko on the list.

Jerebko recently broke his contract with Russian BC Khimki for family reasons.

- Jonas no longer plays for Khimki and it was his club that put the brakes on him before, he has repeatedly said that he wants to play for Sweden so we dare to hope that it will now become a reality, even if nothing is clear yet.

A 208 cm tall moving forward with a three-point shot and routine from 10 seasons in the NBA, of course it would make a big difference for us, says Secretary General Fredrik Joulamo in a press release.

Marcus Eriksson is also listed.

There is also no definitive message yet.

Eriksson plays for Alba Berlin in the Euroleague and his team plays in Instanbul two days before Sweden's match.

- It is a huge flax but ALBA Berlin is in the city and has no matches at the same time as Sweden plays, so the stars are right for him to be able to participate as well, says Joulamo.
