In details ... the results of the AFC Cup group stage draw

On Wednesday, the group stage draw for the largest edition of the AFC Cup was withdrawn via video calling technology, with the participation of 39 clubs.


The number of clubs has been increased from 36 to 39, with an additional group approved for the central region.


West Asia included three groups, South Asia a group, the middle two groups, ASEAN three groups, the East one group.


The group stage matches will be held in the grouping system in the five geographical regions from one round, as announced by the continental federation last Monday, due to the repercussions of the new Corona virus.


The competitions will start in the southern, central and eastern regions from May 14, before the start of the West competitions on May 23, with the ASEAN region matches to be held from June 22-28.


The western leg of the semi-finals will be held on September 13 and 14, with the return matches to take place after two weeks, while the semi-final of the ASEAN region will be held in one round on August 10 and 11.


The South, Central and East final of the two home matches will be held on August 11 and 25, while the final of the ASEAN region of one round will be held on August 25, and the final of the two-round West Region will take place on October 20 and November 3.


With regard to the pre-final of the regions, it will be held two round-trip matches between 14-15 and 28-29 September, with the final round to be held on 20 October and 3 November.


The AFC Cup Final will be held on November 26th.


The competitions are held in a single-stage league system, while the winner of the continental auxiliary championship title gets a seat in the preliminary round of the AFC Champions League 2022.
