Most people probably expected Manchester United to clean up table-toppers Sheffield United relatively easily at home at Old Trafford.

Instead, it was just the opposite.

The away team stood for a giant bang and won 2-1.

United, where Victor Nilsson Lindelöf sat on the bench throughout the match, looked blunt from the start and it did not get any easier when David de Gea did not come out on a corner and Kean Bryan was able to nod in the lead for the away team in the 23rd minute.

However, United would come back when team captain Harry Maguire nodded in 1-1 on a corner.

But Sheffield would come back and a shot from Oliver Burke was guided into the net by Axel Tuanzebe and 2-1 to the PL jumbo.

Jumbo's second victory

The last quarter was a game against a goal when United desperately chased after an equalizer.

But Sheffield defended well and managed to hold off and win.

The team's only second victory this season.

Thus, United lost important points in the top battle where local rival Manchester City now leads the league with one point ahead of United.

Debut for Tuchel

Earlier in the evening, Thomas Tuchel made his debut as Chelsea coach.

Even though he had only had time for a training session with the team, he sat on the coaching bench against Wolverhampton.

But it was not a fun debut in an uneventful match that was goalless.
