At the morning training last Monday, Linus Ullmark was informed that his father had passed away after a period of illness, 63 years old.

He then played two games, but on Friday he was back when Buffalo lost to Washington.

But in tonight's return match with the Capitals, Buffalo won and Ullmark became the big hero.

At 3-3 after three periods and a goalless extra time, the match went to a penalty shootout.

Jack Eichel put Buffalo 4-3 while Ullmark saved all three penalties.

- It's been tough.

There have been a lot of emotions and thoughts that I have had to work with.

I have taken one day at a time.

Tried to be happy when I was happy and sad when I was sad.

Right now I am very grateful for the victory, says Ullmark to nhl.com.
