  • The Girondins de Bordeaux won against Angers (2-1) and moved up to 6th place in Ligue 1 with a third straight victory in Ligue 1.

  • After Otavio's serious injury, Jean-Louis Gasset decided to trust his young players with some success.

  • Despite everything, the Bordeaux coach is hoping for a recruit before the end of the transfer window in a week to make up for the long absence of his Brazilian midfielder.

A little over 20 years.

This is the average age of the three Girondins midfielders who finished the match on the field in the victory against Angers (2-1) this Sunday at Matmut Atlantique.

Toma Basic (24 years old), Yacine Adli (20 years old) and Tom Lacoux (18 years old).

Three kids who managed to keep the house without Otavio but with papa Koscielny at the end of the match to allow Bordeaux to chain a third consecutive victory in Ligue 1 and to dream of Europe again (tied for 6th with Marseille).

A success obtained thanks to a double from Ui-jo Hwang who warms the hearts of the Navy and White after the "cold snap" of the week, according to Jean-Louis Gasset, and the serious injury of the Brazilian midfielder (rupture of the tendon of 'Achille).

With this question since: how to replace the indispensable Otavio?

At kick-off this Sunday, unsurprisingly, the Bordeaux coach had bet on the Basic-Adli duo.

A pair already seen to its advantage against Dijon but also in great difficulty against Reims.

The first responded present while remaining fairly neutral, the second again achieved a very great match.

The former Parisian, technically fair and physically thicker, finally seems to have found consistency.

Lacoux like a curious briscard

Anyway, we should not count on their coach to reprimand them given the situation of his workforce: "I only have three so I will tell you that they were very very good", laughs Jean- Louis Gasset.

Three is already better than two while waiting for a possible recruit.

The third is for now the new guy: Tom Lacoux.

One appearance and one minute of playing time before entering against Angers.

However, the pure Bordelais made a last half hour of old man.

"I found him equal to himself, he recovered balls, he played simple, he was aggressive in the duels, explains Gasset. He has a lot of composure but that, I had seen him.

He's a smart boy, so… that's fine with me ”.

A week for a recruit

But can the Girondins play the whole second part of the season with three kids in the midfield in Ligue 1?

Against the SCO, it held and sometimes not much, a post for example.

But how will it be against Lyon, Lille or Marseille in the coming weeks?

“If I am told that it is necessary to end like this [with the three youngsters], I will end like this [the season].

I knew the deal ”, repeats tirelessly the coach of the Navy and White.

The deal is to downsize the workforce and not just before considering possible recruitment.

For now, Bordeaux has only sold Pablo during this winter transfer window (left for Lokomotiv Moscow for 2.5 million euros and some bonuses) while the club wants other departures (Jovanovic, De Préville, Poundjé ...) .

This is for the public speech of Jean-Louis Gasset.

But behind the scenes the former assistant to Laurent Blanc is hoping for a recruit.

With his sports director, Alain Roche, he targeted two players: Jean Michaël Seri (Fulham, England) and Wylan Cyprien (Parma, Italy).

Problem, the two ex-Niçois have salaries far too high for Bordeaux finances, already in the red.

The club also made contact with other players including another former OGC Nice, Vincent Koziello.

The midfielder currently plays at Nacional Madeira.

There is one week left to find the rare bird… or not!
