The deputies Régis Juanico and Gérard Leseul wrote to the Minister of Sports Roxana Maracineanu to favor the obtaining of exemptions for the amateur clubs, deprived of training after 6 p.m. because of the curfew, one week before the return of the Coupe de France.

"We ask you to grant exemptions to amateur clubs so that they can train on extended time slots (in the evening in particular) and organize friendly matches", launched the two elected officials, members of the socialist group and related parties.

The return of the oldest amateur competitions is a logistical headache for its participants, who have been deprived of competition since the end of October due to health restrictions.

Between the lack of rhythm, the lack of preparation time and the sanitary protocol to be respected, the Normandy formation of Flers, in the sixth division, announced on Saturday that it was throwing in the towel.

It is the first club to forfeit.

The 6th round (already) next weekend

Messrs Juanico and Leseul, deputies for Loire and Seine-Maritime, also asked "to grant a few additional days of preparation" in order to reduce the risk of injuries.

The French Federation (FFF) changed the format of the Coupe de France in December, splitting it into two “tracks”, that of Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 clubs, and that of amateurs.

The amateurs, who are due to compete in the 6th round next weekend, must join the “pros” at the round of 16 stage.
