The Norwegian government has introduced strict restrictions due to the mutated coronavirus that spreads in and around Oslo.

The serious situation also hits sports hard.

The Norwegian Sports Confederation appeals to all members to close down all sports in the municipalities affected by the spread.

A press release states that it includes all organized training and competitions, even at the very highest level.

The top sports center in Oslo also closed on Saturday.

"Sees no other solution"

- We see no other solution.

The situation is very serious.

The shutdown will take place immediately and will last until 31 January.

We follow the development and extend the closure if necessary, says Berit Kjøll, chairman of the Norwegian Sports Confederation.

The Norwegian Football Association announces that no clubs can carry out any joint training or training matches.

The clubs are also not allowed to leave the region to do this.

- Now we are re-planning so that the players can train on their own, says Vålerenga's sports manager Jørgen Ingebrigtsen to VG.

Cross-country skiers can also be affected

In Sweden, too, the requirements have been tightened against Norway, which may make up for it for the Norwegian cross-country skiers.

In less than a week, the Norwegians will go to Sweden for a World Cup-preparing World Cup in Falun.

According to new directives from the Public Health Agency, all visitors to Sweden who have stayed in Norway for the past 14 days must, among other things, stay at home for at least seven days and avoid contact with others as far as possible.

- Oh, this really came very suddenly.

I relate to what the health team decides.

And what we have to do, we do.

If it means that we have to travel to Falun directly from here, we will do it, says star Therese Johaug, who is currently in Lahti, to Aftonbladet.
