Manchester City narrowly qualified for the next round of the FA Cup on Saturday evening.

Manager Pep Guardiola's squad appeared to be humiliated by League Two club Cheltenham Town, but got up in time and won 1-3.

Cheltenham Town, currently number seven in the League Two (the fourth tier of England), surprisingly took the lead at Jonny Rocks Stadium via Alfie May after 59 minutes and could therefore hope for a mega stunt for a long time.

City, which started the cup duel with a number of permanent employees, not at war strength, put things in order in the last ten minutes.

Phil Foden drew 1-1 in the 81st minute, Gabriel Jesus made it 1-2 three minutes later and the final chord was in injury time for Ferrán Torres.

Due to the oppressive victory, Manchester City remains in the race to win the FA Cup for the seventh time in history.

The 'Citizens' also won the most important cup tournament in England in 1903, 1934, 1956, 1969, 2011 and 2019.

Arsenal is surprised in the FA Cup

Earlier on Saturday, Arsenal was surprised in the fourth round of the FA Cup.

Southampton was 1-0 too strong for the defending champion in St. Mary's Stadium.

The Brazilian defender Gabriel passed his own goalkeeper in the 24th minute and thus unfortunately scored the only goal of the match.

The Gunners were unable to shake the home side and suffered a costly defeat.

With the loss, Arsenal continues a very disappointing season.

The team of manager Mikel Arteta occupies the tenth place in the Premier League and is thirteen points behind leader Manchester United after nineteen matches.

At the end of last year, Arsenal was also eliminated from the League Cup.

The London club managed to hibernate in the Europa League and will take on Benfica next month.

Last season, Arsenal was the strongest in the illustrious English cup tournament.

In the final, Chelsea was beaten 2-1.
