Movistar Estudiantes has reached an agreement with the Puerto Rican point guard
José Juan "JJ" Barea
(1.78 meters, 1984) for his incorporation to the Endesa League team, until the end of the season.
Barea, 36, is an institution in the NBA, and especially in the Dallas Mavericks: he was basic in his only championship ring, the one achieved in 2011 with German
against the Miami Heat, the club said in its statement .
In his 14 consecutive seasons in the NBA (between 2006 and 2020), 11 have been in two stages with the Texas franchise, with which he signed a contract at the beginning of this season that was terminated in December.
In his other three NBA seasons he defended the Minnesota Timberwolves jersey (2011-2014), accumulating a total of 831 games in the regular league and 50 in the playoffs.
Barea is also one of the stars of the Puerto Rico team, with which he won the gold medals at the 2011 Pan American Games, the 2006 and 2010 Central American and Caribbean Games;
and silver from the 2007 Pan American Games.
The player will arrive in Madrid this week to join Movistar Estudiantes training.
