Third time lucky?

No, in the case of the Los Angeles Kings, four attempts were needed before the season's first victory was over.

But it was Colorado who started best - after the first period, the guests had gained a 2-0 lead.

And the Kings have now conceded the first goal in all four games they played this season.

The difference tonight was that they still managed to win.

The turnaround began when Drew Doughty reduced early in the second period, and with just over two minutes left of the middle period, the Kings had also equalized.

The match looked like a long time to go into extra time - but with barely four minutes left to play, Adrian Kempe stepped forward.

The 24-year-old Swede was well placed in front of the Colorado goal when Anze Kopitar recorded the puck from the right - and Kempe could easily control 3-2.

Kings eventually won 4-2, after goals in an empty cage.
