Sweden stood for a strong start to the tough meeting with European Championship finalist Slovenia and jerked to an 11-6 lead.

The Slovenes, with Swedish national team captain Ljubomir Vranjes, however, ate up most of the lead before the break and went to the halftime break with 15-14 and only one goal up.

In the second half, the team followed suit and it became a real thriller in the final minutes.

Hampus Wanne made 28-27 with just over 20 seconds left but just like in the last match against Belarus, the opponent decided in the closing seconds.

With only a few seconds left, the equalizer came to 28-28.

For Sweden, a completely decisive meeting with the Russian Handball Federation's team in the final round of the intermediate round now awaits.

If there is a win there, the ticket to the championship is fixed.
