Egyptian league standings: Al-Ahly is in the lead, one point behind Zamalek

Cairo-AFP.

Al-Ahly club returned from afar and reversed its delay in front of its guest Al-Mokawloon Al-Arab, with two goals to a 3-2 victory, to temporarily regain the lead in the opening of the ninth stage of the Egyptian Football League Thursday.

The contractors advanced with the goal of Al-Ahly defender Ayman Ashraf, an own-goal error (38), and Tunisian Seif El Din Jaziri added the second goal for the guests (44).

Then substitute Taher Muhammad Taher reduced the score for Al-Ahly (60), and the second substitute Muhammad Sharif scored a draw for the owners of the land (70), before Muhammad Magdy “Afsha” settled the result for the Red Club with a third goal (81).

With that result, Al-Ahly raised its score to 20 points, which it temporarily took the top of the standings, one point ahead of its rival Zamalek, who meets Aswan on Saturday.

And the balance of the Arab Contractors stuck at 7 points in twelfth place.

The match began with a pressing attack from Al-Ahly without effectiveness, until a powerful shot from Tunisian Ali Maaloul hit the head of goalkeeper Hassan Shaheen and turned into a corner.

Then Hussein Al-Shahat's cross (34) was missed by Zambian Walter Bwalia.

But the response came quickly from an organized counterattack by the contractors, which reached Basem Ali, who fired it from inside the penalty area, and it hit Ashraf and changed its direction to live in Ali Lotfi's window (38).

The contractors took advantage of Al-Ahly's offensive rush, and from a second counterattack, Al-Jaziri took off with Latfi and hit a ball between his feet, scoring the second goal (44).

The referee awarded a penalty kick to Al-Ahly in stoppage time in the first half after a handball by Hassan Al-Shami, but he returned and canceled it after returning to the video assistant referee (VAR) technique.

In the second half, Al-Ahly turned the tables and began launching attacks on the contractors' goal, resulting in a first goal in the 60th minute, with a missile shot by Taher from outside the penalty area, which resided to the left of Hassan Shaheen.

In the 70th minute, Sharif equalized for Al-Ahly with a powerful shot from inside the penalty area in the middle of the goal.

And then, the South African coach Pitso Musimane paid all his offensive cards in pursuit of victory, and he got what he wanted in the 81st minute, when a shot from the boundaries of the penalty area hit the net, announcing the third goal of Al-Ahly.
