It was yesterday that 28-ranked Kazakh Julia Putintseva posted clips and pictures of mice running around in her hotel room in Melbourne.

She changed rooms but the problems remained.

The problems meant that she could not sleep and because the window could not be opened, she also had difficulty breathing.

The state is now facing Victoria's police chief.

Lisa Neville, who is also responsible for quarantining the information without mentioning Putintseva by name.

- As I understand it, there may have been feeding (of the mice), Neville says according to the Sydney Morning Herald.

Players can clean the rooms themselves

Neville also emphasizes that the task of keeping the hotel room clean and fresh lies with the players themselves during the strict quarantine.

- Each player must clean their own room and change the sheets in the bed if necessary, says Neville and says that you should start cleaning up the pests.

- We will do a pest control if necessary and hopefully all problems will be solved this week, Neville says.

The Australian Open begins on February 8 - three weeks late due to the pandemic.
