On the last Sunday of January, the city of Tourcoing, in the North, will host the first edition of the pole vault competition entitled “Perche en or”.

Due to the coronavirus health crisis, the events will take place behind closed doors but in the presence of big stars of the discipline.

Organized by the Lille metropolis athletics, Perche en or, stage of the “Perche élite tour” circuit, is the first international event of the season in France.

Suddenly, the best tricolors and pole vaulters in the world will make the trip next Sunday to the Léo Lagrange complex in Tourcoing.

An event to follow live on the Internet

Among the big names, the inevitable French Renaud Lavillenie, Olympic champion in 2012, former world record holder (6.16 m) and vice Olympic champion in 2016. Among the women, the Greek Katerina Stefanidi, reigning Olympic champion and champion of the world in 2017, will be present.

There will also be the Americans Christopher Nilsen and Katie Nageotte, the French Valentin Lavillenie, Renaud's brother and the British Holly Bradshow.

If the event is not open to the public, pole vault enthusiasts will still be able to follow the competition in books, on the Perche en or Facebook page.
