It is the basketball association, the gymnastics association, the handball association, the floorball association and the swimming association that have joined forces and written the open letter which is primarily addressed to the government but also the municipalities.

Right now, all organized indoor training under state, regional and municipal auspices for children is closed until 24 January.

The letter writers point out that hundreds of thousands of children have lost a source of joy, security and vital movement and that sitting still poses a risk of physical and mental illness.

The letter writers say that the sports movement has established an infectious protocol to relate to.

"All our associations want and can take responsibility for not contributing to an increased spread of infection and at the same time contribute to better public health through joy, security and vital movement," the letter concludes.
