After more than 25,000 nautical miles swallowed up by the leaders of the Vendée Globe since the start of Les Sables d'Olonnes on November 8, the outcome of this crazy race is still uncertain.

We take stock on Tuesday, January 19.

The classification at 5 o'clock

1. Charlie Dalin (

Apivia

),

2,695

miles from the finish

2. Louis Burton (

Bureau Vallée 2

), 96 miles from the leader

3. Damien Seguin (

APICIL Group

), 104 miles behind the leader

4. Thomas

Rettant

(

LinkedOut

), 110 miles from the leader

5. Yannick Bestaven (

Maître CoQ IV

), 137 miles behind the leader

Dalin consolidates his lead

In recent hours, Charlie Dalin has managed to further widen his lead over Louis Burton.

The sailor from Le Havre, who has led the race 178 times since the start (compared to just twice for Burton), is now nearly 100 nautical miles ahead of his pursuer.

But from there to saying that the case is folded, no.

The next few days of racing are going to be exciting to follow as the strategies put in place are different from one boat to another.

While Dalin, whose port foil is not 100% usable, squeezes the wind to make as little travel as possible while hoping to catch the low forecast in four days near the Azores, Burton, him, goes outside to find speed.

Due to a more direct route to Les Sables d'Olonne, the skipper APIVIA is 96.5 miles ahead of @LouisBurtonOff.

Head west to catch the depression

As we have said, the different strategies put in place by the two skippers will play an important role in the days to come.

And if we look at the general mapping of the race, we realize that most of the leading skippers are leaning pretty damn west.

Not that they want to head for the United States to witness the fall of Donald Trump, they are just trying not to miss the train of depression to come.

Now that the Doldrums have passed, they should benefit from fairly stable winds over the next few days.

Seguin and Rettant on the lookout for the slightest mistake

Just behind, Damien Seguin (

positions.

At this rate, the two men, who are standing in less than 5 nautical miles, could even come back up to Louis Burton.
