SVT Sport visited a less cozy handball training in Nacka.

It was six degrees cold and snowing when teammates Ronja, Sara and Hanna trained in the dark outside the gym.

Their organized indoor training with Skuru IK is down, even though they go to school with their friends during the day.

- We have distance learning one day a week, which is a bit strange because we are at school the other days, but are not allowed to train with the team, says Ronja Mårsjö.

Do you think it is not connected?

- No, it's not connected.

- I have heard of many who have quit because they have lost motivation because they do not think it is fun anymore, says teammate Sara Hedbom-Hedlund.

Young people do not reach the training level

The Swedish Public Health Agency recommends that children and young people have physical activity for at least one hour a day, heart rate-enhancing exercise at least three times a week, as well as activity for bones and muscles.

But research shows that only 44 percent of boys and 22 percent of girls reach that level, and 14 percent of girls in high school.

- This closure means that club sports are reduced, but it also means that many young people have to stay at home, that they do not go to school.

The total amount of physical activity decreases in many ways, and it is worrying, says Johan R Norberg, professor of Sports Science at Malmö University.

New message awaits

In Stockholm, the news came as late as last Friday, that the young people can now train organized outdoors again.

But the big question remains: what happens after January 24, where the closure of indoor sports extends right now?

- I hope we can start training again together as a team, preferably indoors as well, says Ronja Mårsjö.

Do you see any risks then, with the corona?

- Well, we can be in school, so why should we not be allowed to train?
