China News Service, January 18th. On the evening of the 17th Beijing time, Chinese tennis player Wang Xiyu said on personal social media that she would miss the Australian Open in 2021 because of a positive nucleic acid test for the new coronavirus.

In December last year, Wang Xiyu won the Australian Open wild card.

To prepare for the competition, she arrived in Dubai in December 2020.

In previous nucleic acid tests, Wang Xiyu's test results were negative.

According to the Australian Open and WTA's epidemic prevention regulations, before leaving Abu Dhabi for Melbourne, she still needs to undergo a nucleic acid test, but the test result was positive.

"The isolated life is boring, but I can do physical training and study in the room. Although it is regrettable, I will try my best to recover and hope that I can return to the stadium in a healthy state as soon as possible." Wang Xiyu wrote.

Wang Xiyu was born in 2001. He has won the Wimbledon Junior Women's Doubles Championship, the U.S. Open Junior Women's Singles Championship, and the world's first youth women's tennis team. In 2019, he entered the adult competition.

At the 2020 Australian Open, Wang Xiyu regretted that he stopped the qualifying round and failed to enter the main match.
