Sweden has had a brilliant start to the World Cup with big victories against both Northern Macedonia and Chile.

On Monday, a group final against Egypt awaits.

At the same time, Sweden may receive heavy reinforcements in the intermediate round.

Both Albin Lagergren and Robin Lindskog remain at home in Sweden awaiting more test results around covid-19.

The players have tested positive before the championship, but there is still hope that they will be able to be relevant for games later during the World Cup, which runs until the end of January.

- The prerequisite is, of course, that they pass the tests at home so that they can even be relevant.

We have continuous contact with them and if they continue to be symptom-free and leave negative tests, they can if the national team captain wants to fly down and connect, says Sweden's press manager Daniel Vandor to SVT Sport.

He says that they will receive an answer to Lindskog's test tomorrow evening, Monday.

- For Albin's part, we expect an answer on Wednesday night, says Vandor.

Sweden will play their first two matches in the intermediate round on Wednesday and Friday respectively.

Should the players be tested negative, the national team will work to get them to Egypt as soon as possible.

- If they get a negative answer, they can come as soon as it is possible to find a flight.

The answers usually come quite late in the day, so at the earliest the next day they can be in place.

Then they will be tested on site as well, says Daniel Vandor.

So in practice, Lindskog could join the first match in the intermediate round and Lagergren the second?

- Yes, physically they could be in place before the respective matches, if they will then play is still a question we do not have an answer to yet.

Daniel Vandor adds that each country may make five changes during the tournament to the original 20-man squad.

The teams, including Sweden, which only entered 19 players, can, however, supplement with a 20th without costing a change.
