According to statistics studied by Norwegian Dagbladet, Johaug has never before decided a race with a joint start so early.

- It was a very good day.

I feel that I am on the right track considering Falun (World Cup 30 and 31 January) and the World Cup.

I had decided that I wanted to run my own race today and felt that I did well, says Johaug to Dagbladet.

Heidi Weng finished second, 1.07 behind, and junior Helene Marie Fossesholm third, 1.23 behind.

This is how it has looked in the Norwegian distance top throughout this pandemic season.

Weng took it deliberately calmly at first

It was clear that Weng lacked the company of, among others, Frida Karlsson and Ebba Andersson who had been able to challenge Johaug earlier.

Although she did not mention the Swedes by name.

- I had decided to have a slightly calmer opening.

I wanted to run my own race from the beginning.

I know how Therese opens anyway, but it will be a different approach at the World Cup.

There will be more who can help draw.

Then I would not have ended up alone, says Weng.
