The standoff between the LFP and Canal + gives us a twist every day.

The latest?

The thinly veiled threat of Canal plus of going to court if the League does not put lot n ° 3 to the pot in its new call for tenders which will be launched urgently to alleviate the bankruptcy of Mediapro.

Lot 3 not put into play by the League

Let's rewind a little: gathered urgently after the Figaro interview with Maxime Saada indicating that Canal demanded a new call for tenders and due form for the audiovisual rights of the championship until 2024, the board of directors of the LFP refused to bow completely.

There will be a new call for tenders, launched urgently in the coming days, but only on lots 1 and 2, held by Mediapro.

But not lot n ° 3, removed by beIN and then sold to Canal for a check for 230 million euros, an amount that the boss of the encrypted channel considers “overvalued”.

In a letter, the content of which was revealed by RMC, Maxime Saada responded immediately.

According to him (and his lawyers), the law obliges the League to include lot n ° 3 in this new call for tenders, otherwise the group would be “discriminated against” compared to other potential candidates for the rights at stake, because that he should at the same time continue to pay an "artificially high" price for his two current matches (Saturday at 5 p.m. and Sunday at 9 p.m.).

BeIN on the same line as Canal?

If the League were to persist in its choices, Maxime Saada, who adds to be in perfect symbiosis with beIN Sport on the subject, warns that the Canal + group will seize "the competent authorities, in particular the courts and the Competition Authority" to assert their rights.

Ligue 1 is not out of the box.
