Hisashi Iwakuma, who was active in professional baseball and major league baseball and retired from active duty only last season, has been appointed as a special coach of the Mariners who played in the major league era.

After playing an active part in professional baseball Kintetsu and Rakuten, Mr. Iwakuma belonged to the Mariners for seven years from 2012, achieved a no-hitter no-run in 2015, and won 63 major league baseball games in total.

After leaving the Mariners, he transferred to a professional baseball giant and retired from active duty only last season, but the Mariners announced on the 12th that Mr. Iwakuma will be appointed as a new special coach.

According to the team, Mr. Iwakuma will teach the Mariners camp in the United States from the middle of next month, coach the pitchers in the minor league teams under its umbrella, and support the Mariners' scouting activities in Japan.

"The skills bears have demonstrated in their careers are a perfect fit for our coaches and players," said Mariners' Depot General Manager.

At the Mariners, Ichiro, who retired as an adult, is also instructing the players as an instructor of the team, and at this camp, it seems that two people can be seen in uniforms.
