Former GLORY champion Robin van Roosmalen was seriously injured in a serious traffic accident on the A2 near Utrecht on Wednesday.

His sister did not survive the accident.

Van Roosmalen (31) and his sister Melissa (29) were standing with their car on the hard shoulder when they were hit by a truck.

Van Roosmalen is seriously injured in hospital, his sister died of her injuries there.

De Bosschenaar became world champion in both the lightweight and the featherweight at kicksport association GLORY.

In 2018 he lost his championship belt after a lost fight with the Thai Petchpanomrung Kiatmookao in the Johan Cruijff ArenA.

After that, Van Roosmalen said goodbye to kickboxing and switched to MMA organization Bellator.

GLORY expressed condolences on Twitter on Wednesday evening to Van Roosmalen and his sister.

'Fortunately Robin can still move everything'

Van Roosmalen is conscious, according to Hicham Elgaoui of the Bossche gym. Fighting Talents were the fighter and his sister trained.
