It may not have been the fireworks fans had wanted at Edgeley Park yesterday when West Ham beat Stockport County 1-0 in the third round of the FA Cup.

But just over a quarter of an hour into the match, at the score 0-0, referee Mike Dean blew off the game temporarily while a large number of rockets exploded in the sky.

Confused players who were just watching and after a short break the match resumed.

The British media later reported that the fireworks were a tribute to a 15-year-old boy from Stockport who is in hospital in critical condition. This after being hit by a police car during the Christmas weekend.
