Formula 1 is postponing the Australian race and instead starts the new season in Bahrain.
The start, actually planned for March 21 in Melbourne, cannot take place due to the corona pandemic.
This means that the first Grand Prix of the new year will take place on March 28 in Bahrain, around 12,000 kilometers away.
It was originally intended to be the second race on the Formula 1 calendar.
Michael Schumacher's son Mick will also make his eagerly awaited debut as a regular driver for Haas in the small kingdom on the Persian Gulf.
The trip to Melbourne should be made up for in the fall on November 21st.
The China guest appearance in Shanghai, scheduled for April 11, will also not take place.
It should be made up at a later date.
Formula 1 will stop at Imola again on April 18.

"It was a busy start to the Formula 1 year and we are pleased to confirm that the number of races planned for the season remains unchanged," said the new Formula 1 managing director Stefano Domenicali.
Formula 1 did not start in Australia in 2020 either
In 2020 Sebastian Vettel & Co traveled to Australia and prepared for the first Grand Prix of the year there.
However, due to a Corona case with the McLaren team, the race had to be canceled at short notice.
It was not until the beginning of June that Formula 1 published an emergency calendar with the new season start on July 5 in Spielberg.
Initially, only the eight European races were scheduled for the first phase of the season.

At the end of the year, future world champion Lewis Hamilton and his colleagues contested 17 Grand Prix.
Usually closed to the public and with strict hygiene and safety rules.
Two of the 17 stages were in Bahrain.
No race planned in Germany
A record calendar with 23 races is set for this year.
A Grand Prix in Germany is not planned.
As usual, the season finale will not take place in Abu Dhabi until December 12th.

"I think the first few races will be challenging," said Vettel's new boss, Aston Martin team owner Lawrence Stroll, recently.
After six years, the four-time world champion from Hessen had to leave Ferrari and will drive alongside Stroll's son Lance for the English works team.
