The Swedish elite football association, Sef, works intensively to keep elite football as infectious as possible.

Then you do not want to end up in a situation where credibility is questioned.

Mats Enquist, Secretary General of Sef, tells Aftonbladet:

- We advise clubs not to go abroad in view of the current pandemic situation, rather seek domestic solutions where we can act under our protocols.

But we do not decide, we can only advise.

"Of the greatest value"

Aftonbladet has taken note of the invitation that was sent out to the clubs at the end of last week.

There Sef writes:

"Considering the current contagion situation for covid-19 in Sweden and the world and the current public debate, it is important that you clubs think about how you do with this year's training camp before the start of the season.

Based on the authorities' recommendations and guidelines, Sef advises against travel at the moment and instead recommends that the clubs find alternatives at home, in your local communities.

Elite football has shown great responsibility throughout the pandemic and if we are to continue to be a credible player in the debate, it is of the utmost value that we continue to be good role models for society. ”

Last year, 15 of the Allsvenskan's 16 clubs were at match and training camps in different countries.

Canceled camp

Now it seems that the vast majority stay at home due to the pandemic and its medical, practical and moral consequences.

- We are canceling due to the prevailing covid situation, says Peter Hunt, chairman of IFK Norrköping to Aftonbladet.

Norrköping had planned to go to the Algarve coast.

So also Hammarby who also booked off.

- No, it will not be a camp for us, says sports director Jesper Jansson to Aftonbladet.

AIK, Djurgården, Häcken, IFK Gothenburg and Östersund are other clubs that have made it clear that they refrain from unnecessary travel.

The national football team decided early on to cancel the annual January tour, which in recent years has been relocated to Qatar or the United Arab Emirates.
