Ajax and Abdelhak Nouri's family have still not come to an agreement about the compensation that the club must pay.

Managing director Edwin van der Sar therefore does not rule out the possibility of an arbitration case.

"There is a chance of an arbitration case, unfortunately. We have spoken with family and lawyers, but unfortunately we have not resolved it", Van der Sar told the NOS just before the start of the top match between Ajax and PSV.

Nouri collapsed more than 3.5 years ago during a friendly match against Werder Bremen in Austria and suffered severe brain damage.

The treatment in the field would not have been adequate.

Ajax acknowledged all liability a year later.

"We want to find a solution. We want to do that neatly and respectfully", Van der Sar said last season.

Nouri's contract expired last summer.

Ajax has respected that commitment, but there is still no agreement for compensation for the midfielder, who will turn 23 years old in April.

Khalid Kasem, lawyer and confidant of the Nouri family, claimed last year that Nouri was at least as talented than his old teammates Frenkie de Jong and Donny van de Beek and that this should be taken into account in the compensation.
