The Danish professional Oscar Bergendahl has been called up to the national handball team in the World Cup preparations.

The midfielder, everyday in GOG, will go to Egypt where the World Cup for Sweden begins against the Czech Republic on Thursday.

"Our hope is still that Anton Lindskog will get well and be able to join at a later stage, but to relieve Max Darj and Fredric Pettersson of the training until then, we also wanted to bring Oscar down to Egypt," says national team captain Glenn Solberg in a press release.

Joined tonight

Lindskog was one of two Swedish players who tested positive for covid-19 during the past week.

The other, Albin Lagergren, is away from the World Cup.

Hampus Wanne, who has been in quarantine in Flensburg since his partner suffered from corona, joined the gathering in Eskilstuna tonight.

If Sunday's PCR tests are negative, the national team will be able to resume training on Monday.

The national team will fly to Egypt on Tuesday.
