On December 17, Henrik Lundqvist said that he has a serious heart.

Just over two weeks later, the news came that the Swedish ice hockey goalkeeper was forced to undergo an operation, which he now says has been completed.

"The operation went really well.

It took about five hours to take care of everything.

I'm grateful for the fantastic staff here at Clevland Clinic.

The last few days have been pretty crazy, but I feel like I'm in good hands.

Every day is a step in the right direction. ”

writes the 38-year-old on Instagram.

He has previously said that the operation he was to perform was a heart valve replacement and a replacement of the first part of the carotid artery.

The heart defect and the operation means that Lundqvist will not play with his club Washington Capitals in the NHL this season.
