Ex-FIFA President Blatter hospitalized

The former president of the International Football Federation (FIFA) Swiss, Joseph Blatter, has been hospitalized, according to local newspapers, citing his daughter, on Thursday.

"My father is in the hospital. He is improving on a daily basis, but he needs time and rest," the newspaper "Blake" quoted his daughter Corinne Blatter Andimaten as saying, noting that his health condition is serious but his life is not in danger.

"On behalf of my family, I ask that our privacy be respected," she added.

Blatter, 84, was forced to resign from his post in 2015, 17 years after his election as president of the International Federation, due to a bribery scandal that shook the foundations of the football organization and affected him personally after he was suspended for six years due to his payment of $ 2 million to former European Union President Michel Platini.

"I have done nothing wrong by making agreed payments through a contract," Blatter said, defending himself in the case.
