Carlos Sainz (Mini) showed his best version and offensive spirit to authoritatively win the sixth day of the Dakar, cut by 100 kilometers between Al Qaisumah and Ha Il.

The Madrilenian was undeniable in a day of dunes and complicated terrain in which navigation was not as decisive as in previous days.

Sainz went for it all from the start.

He passed first at the first checkpoints.

At kilometer 202 he already had 2.52 minutes over the Saudi Al-Rajhi, 2.52 minutes and 3.25 over the leader, the French Peterhansel.

The chase was encouraged by the competition between Peterhansel with Al Rahji and Qatari Al Attihah, but Sainz did not yield at any time, so he passed the fifth control with an increase in rent.

The Mini rider was going for victory at this stage.

Unaware of the stalking of his rivals, Sainz completed the stage with 4.05 minutes over Al Rahji and 7.16 over Al Attiyah.

Peterhansel gave up time, 7.34 on goal.

In the general,

Peterhansel

(Mini) is the one who governs with an income of 5.53 over Al Attiyah and 40.39 minutes over Sainz, a very big difference, but which will give wings to the Spaniard to improve the position and look for more stage wins.

At the height of Arcarons

Joan Barreda caught up with the legendary driver Jordi Arcarons, signing his 27th victory in the Dakar.

His third victory in this edition came by beating Ross Branch (Yamaha) and Daniel Sanders (KTM) in the special and recovering almost 4 minutes to the new leader Toby Price (KTM), who beats Kevin Benavides (Honda).

Although Barreda had a difficult end of the stage due to the pressure of

Ross Branch

from Botswana

, he held on for 13 seconds and proclaimed himself the winner.

A success that places him in the top-3 in history, tied with Arcarons and 6 victories for the French

Peterhansel

and

Despres

.

This time the navigation was not so decisive, so the competition was more compressed among the big favorites.

The Spaniard smoothed out almost 10 minutes to former leader, Argentine

Kevin Benavides

and 4 to Australian and new leader

Toby Price

.

Barreda reaches the seventh rest day at 6.25 minutes.

The sixth stage, after the toughness of the fifth day of competition in this second Dakar in Saudi Arabia, was shortened by 101 kilometers, with a 12-kilometer shortcut between kilometer points 238 and 351 of the initial route, until it was 347 kilometers.
