The Welsh star, Ian Rush, the legend of Liverpool FC, confirmed his aspiration to launch a major sports project in Dubai, through a football academy bearing his name, and said that this comes after his fascination with the success and progress that Dubai reflects in the world, and not only in the region.

This came during his visit to the headquarters of the Dubai Sports Council, and a meeting with the Secretary-General of the Council, Saeed Hareb, and the Assistant Secretary-General, Nasser Aman Al Rahma, where Hareb gave an explanation to the guest about the nature of the council’s work and the efforts it exerts to manage and develop the sports sector in Dubai, both in terms of Organizing major international conferences and events, or spreading the practice of sport in general, developing the academies sector, and taking an interest in discovering and developing talent.

During the visit, Rush was briefed on the Council's departments, the Innovation Lab, and the rest of the departments included in the Council's headquarters.

Rush said, in a press statement, that he visits the UAE continuously, and showed his amazement at the scenes of development and the beautiful and new tourism and urban facilities that he sees on every visit, and confirmed in a press statement that the city is one of his favorite destinations for tourism and meeting friends.

He expressed his amazement at the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to present more achievements and enhance the leading position of Dubai.
