During his long and successful career, the cult player Darius Kasparaits won three Olympic medals (including Russia and the USSR).

He was a physical defender, known for his rock-hard tackles - and did not hesitate to throw on his gloves if needed.

"Part of the sport"

Nowadays, however, the game is not as physical as in his time, something he hopes can change in the future.

- I have three sons, and hopefully I can teach them my way of playing, so that they can change the sport a little, he says to SVT Sport.

SVT Sports expert Jonas Andersson is divided on whether it is the right way to go.

- This aspect, that you deliberately go out to harm players, I hope it will not come back.

But tackles are part of the sport.

I think that, if you look at the future trajectory, I think there will be a development towards bigger and stronger players again.

It always goes in trends - but that the bigger and stronger players are more skilled, like Elmer Söderblom, he says.
