The North American hockey league kicks off on January 13 with a slimmed-down season of 56 rounds, instead of the 82 regular season games that teams normally play per season.

According to Sportsnet, which was the first to report on the outdoor matches, the Vegas Golden Knights will face the Colorado Avalanche on February 20.

The next day, the Boston Bruins and Philadelphia Flyers meet.

The matches are said to be played at the last three golf holes on Edgewood Tahoe Resort's golf course.

The NHL has not commented on the information

This year's season, the teams are divided into four divisions to avoid long-distance travel: East, Central, West and North, where the latter has only Canadian teams.

The top four teams from each division go to the Stanley Cup playoffs, where the first two knockout rounds are played within each division.
