The classic rival meeting started as a barbecue filled with lighter fluid with a real pressure from Leksand.

And it was also the away team's latest acquisition, Carter Ashton, who pulled in 1-0 after an opening pass by Jonas Ahnelöv.

- Always nice to score the first goal in a new club, even though I may have had better chances in three games, says Carter Ashton about the debut goal in the Leksand shirt.

Shaky effort from Juvonen

Leksand took the lead, but Brynäs equalized immediately and managed to turn the match around.

From back, Kristofer Berglund then put Brynäs 2-1 on their second shot.

A back shot that was not directly unreachable for Janne Juvonen.

The Leksand goalkeeper then continued to be unpredictable and when 3-1 came it was after another weak intervention.

The shots stopped at 19-4 to Leksand, but in goal it was illogically 3-2 to Brynäs after twenty minutes.

Leksand shot and shot and shot ...

When the second period started, everyone could see that Janne Jovonen's save statistics of 25 percent passed him to the bench and instead Axel Brage had to take a seat between the posts.

But he did not get a taste start either.

On Brynäs only fifth shot for the match came 4-2 and everything felt even more illogical considering the match picture.

The answer from Jon Knuts and Leksand came quickly, however, and just before the second rest was a fact, it was finally acknowledged.

Decisive on penalties

The shots continued to hail from Leksandshåll and after three periods it was 58-16 in shots to Leksand but the score remained at 4-4.

58 shots is also the highest number of shots an away team has fired in a match during the Elite Series and SHL history.

In the penalty decision, Peter Cehlarik put the last penalty and made Leksand leave Gävle with the extra points.
