Paris Saint-Germain has signed coach Mauricio Pochettino to replace Thomas Tuchel.

The 48-year-old Argentine will receive a contract until June 30, 2022 with the option for another year, as PSG announced on Saturday.

Videos had already been shown of how Pochettino entered the French champions' club premises.

"This club has always had a special place in my heart," said the former PSG defender.

“I have wonderful memories, especially of the unique atmosphere in the Parc des Princes.

I return to the club with great ambition and humility, and I look forward to working with some of the most talented players in the world. "

Paris in third place

Paris had made the separation from Tuchel official on Tuesday.

The former coach of Bundesliga clubs Borussia Dortmund and FSV Mainz 05 led Paris to the final of the Champions League against FC Bayern (0: 1) this year.

Nationally, Tuchel again won the championship and, among other things, the French Cup.

However, his contract, which ran until the summer of 2021, was terminated after PSG had only finished third in the French Ligue 1 the year.

As a coach, Tuchel's successor Pochettino had started his career at Espanyol Barcelona.

After an engagement at Southampton FC, he drew attention, especially in his five years at Tottenham Hotspur.

Pochettino led the Londoners to the final of the Champions League in 2019 and lost to Liverpool FC and Jürgen Klopp.

In November of last year, the Spurs separated from him.

Paris only starts the new year on Wednesday with the league game at AS Saint-Étienne.
