The separation of the French soccer champions Paris Saint-Germain from coach Thomas Tuchel has now also been contractually completed.

The 47-year-old and PSG have agreed to terminate the contract that expires in the summer, "Bild" reported.

Tuchel is free for a new club.

There was initially no official confirmation.

Already on Christmas Eve, the media had unanimously reported that Tuchel had been informed of the decision to split up by the club's management.

Tuchel, whose annual salary in Paris was estimated at 7.5 million euros, is to receive a severance payment of six million euros.

The former coach of Bundesliga clubs Borussia Dortmund and FSV Mainz 05 led Paris into the final of the Champions League this year.

In the final there was a 0-1 defeat against FC Bayern Munich in Lisbon.

Nationally, Tuchel again won the championship and, among other things, the French Cup.

He is now associated with a possible engagement in the English Premier League.

According to the report, a trail leads to London, where Chelsea, heavily upgraded in the summer, has weakened in recent weeks.

The team lost three of the last four Premier League games and fell back to eighth place in the table.

Coach Frank Lampard is under great pressure to succeed before the game against Aston Villa on Monday evening (6.30 p.m., live in the WELT ticker).

Tuchel is said to have held talks with owner Roman Abramowitsch's club after his end at Borussia Dortmund in 2017, but then decided on Paris.

With Timo Werner, Kai Havertz and Antonio Rüdiger, three current German national players are currently under contract with FC Chelsea.

At PSG, the Argentine Mauricio Pochettino is the favorite to succeed Tuchel.

The 48-year-old ex-coach from Tottenham Hotspur should be the desired solution of the Qatari club bosses and be about to sign, Sky reported, among others.
